Organic silicon sealant has excellent waterproof, weather resistant, thermal conductivity and other properties, and has toughness after curing, making it suitable for protective use. It is widely used in medical devices, automotive electronics, communication equipment, electrical engineering, instrumentation, and new energy sources. Organic silicon sealant can be divided into condensation type and addition type. What are the differences between these two types of organic silicon sealant? Below, we will introduce them to you.
Condensed silicone potting adhesive: It is a type of adhesive that solidifies through moisture in the air and a catalyst, and the curing rate depends on the amount of catalyst. During the curing process, shrinkage and byproducts may occur.
Addition molding silicone potting adhesive: Use a curing agent for curing, and no by-products will be generated during the process. It does not need to be in contact with air and can be used for some deep curing conditions without moisture. It can be cured at room temperature and heating.
These two types of silicone sealant have their own advantages, and it's hard to say which one is better when compared. When making a selection, it should be based on the working conditions of the product itself.
