How to reduce the hardness of liquid silicone

Liquid silicone with different hardness has different uses, simply put, the hardness of silicone determines its purpose. For a novice user, when using liquid silicone for the first time, they may encounter the problem of silicone being too hard. This is because novice users initially do not know what kind of hardness is required, which can cause the purchased silicone to be too hard.
So, when we encounter this situation, how can we reduce the hardness of liquid silicone,Hongtu silicone manufacturer has provided two solutions for everyone to consider and use.
Method 1:
Adding silicone oil can reduce the hardness of silicone. Generally speaking, adding 1% silicone oil will reduce the hardness of silicone by 0.9 to 1.1 degrees; Adding 10% silicone oil will reduce the hardness of the silicone by about 5 degrees. In the actual operation process, adding a large amount of silicone oil will damage the molecular weight of the silicone, and the tear and tensile properties will correspondingly deteriorate, thereby affecting the service life of the silicone mold.
HANAST silicone manufacturer suggests that the general addition ratio of silicone oil should not exceed 5%. When the addition ratio is greater than 5%, it is necessary to first test the mold with a small amount to see if it can be used, in order to avoid causing significant cost waste.
Method 2:
Mix high hardness silicone and low hardness silicone for use. To use this mixing method, the prerequisite is that you have purchased two types of silicone with different hardness. In general, when 20 hardness silicone is mixed with 10 hardness silicone, the hardness of the silicone will be around 15 Shore A.
It should be noted that condensed silicone cannot be mixed with added silicone, otherwise it may cause the silicone to not solidify.
