What problems are prone to occur when making silicone molds for cement based products.
When making molds, the mother mold and mold cannot be detached. Because most of the mother molds are made of cement, which has adsorption properties, liquid mold rubber if the silica gel is not separated from the cement mother mold, the silica gel will slowly be adsorbed by the cement during the solidification process, resulting in difficulty in demolding. When making molds of similar materials, it is necessary to use a release agent, preferably a highly oily release agent, which will have a good isolation effect.
After the cement product dries thoroughly in the mold, it is prone to alkali formation. Cement is a highly alkaline material that reacts with the silicon components in the silicone mold, so a release agent must also be used to isolate the reaction.
Silicone molds are prone to shrinkage in cement products. Because silicone contains appropriate silicone oil, when cement is poured into the silicone mold, the cement will strongly absorb the silicone oil inside the mold, and over time, it will cause severe shrinkage of the silicone mold. Therefore, when producing silicone, manufacturers should control the content of silicone oil to reduce the shrinkage rate of silicone molds.
