When it comes to liquid silicone curing, it depends on what type of silicone it is. There are room-temperature and high-temperature types. Room-temperature silicone can be cured in a natural environment. High-temperature silicone generally needs to be around 150 to 180 degrees Celsius, low temperature 60 degrees Celsius, and general silicone temperatures range from -50 ℃ to 200 ℃.
The silicone main chain is mainly composed of Si-O units, with monovalent organic groups as side groups. It is a linear polymer elastomer with both inorganic and organic properties. The silicone rubber adhesive is a single-component or two-component adhesive composed of adhesive, crosslinking agent, catalyst, reinforcing agent, thickening agent, and heat stabilizer.
According to the vulcanization temperature and usage method, it can be divided into two categories: heating vulcanization (i.e. curing) and room temperature vulcanization. The simpler and more convenient to use is the single component room temperature vulcanization adhesive. The curing speed of organic silicone is greatly influenced by the ambient temperature. If it is necessary to accelerate the curing speed, the adhesive that has not been used up at once can be appropriately heated and humidified according to its conditions. When using it again, the adhesive that has solidified at the front end of the adhesive nozzle needs to be removed before applying the adhesive.
How to achieve good curing performance of the product: Organic silicone gel is cured by absorbing moisture from the air. Under temperature conditions of 25 ° C and 50% R.H., the curing time needs to be more than 24 hours.
The curing conditions of single-component silicone depend on temperature and humidity. In winter, when the temperature and humidity are low, the rate of surface drying and curing slows down. In summer, when the temperature and humidity are high, the rate of surface drying and curing increases. Liquid silicone is generally cured at room temperature at around 25-60 degrees Celsius.
